I had been invited by The Hon. Daphne Guinness, to chaperone her on an very important day. The private launch of Fashion Galore! at Somerset House in London. What an honor, and how nerve wracking it was for me – but I was there to help Daphne celebrate her friend Isabella Blow. To honor her inimitable (though they try) and authentic (though they try) personality, presence and influence on the world of fashion, art, and style.
Issie has left such an irreplaceable and multi-layered legacy behind, that now with thanks to the hard and tireless work of many of those closest to Daphne, has been curated, collated and honored here, in an exhibit of her vast collection of breathtaking couture items and personal belongings. Bought now, in their entirety, by Daphne herself.
What better more fitting way to celebrate Issie’s supportive and authentic and pioneering personality, than in a brand new foundation in her name? Set up on the very day she would have turned fifty years old.
Anyway, it is an amazing thing, and I could say much but my anecdotes are too personal to write about here, really.
Go see the exhibition… its marvelous.

“Five days before she died she said she felt she didn’t matter anymore. This exhibition proves her wrong – she’s always going to matter now”
– Philip Treacy (Milliner)
